Enabling Narrator on Minecraft Java Edition for Linux Immediately Crashes the Game Even with Flite installed

When I enable narrator from the in-game settings the game automatically crashes and when I launch the application again it crashes immediately. Only changing the value of narrator from 1 to 0 stops in options.txt from crashing on launch.
