No restone output when using channeling trident on lightning rod

What I expected to happen was...: I expected a redstone output from the lightning rod when throwing a trident with channeling at it in thunder/lightning weather

What actually happened was...: There was not any redstone output.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a lightning rod next to a comparator (at the same y level), taking an output from the direction of the lightning rod

2. Give yourself a channeling trident ~ /give @p trident{Enchantments:[

{id:channeling,lvl:1}

]} 1

3. Set the weather to thunder /weather thunder

4. Throw the trident at the lightning rod by holding down RMB and releasing
