Fishing is screwy

When fishing the line always sinks then gradually rises a block or two too high
I've tried this in my man made pool (5wide,4deep,8long), pond, and lake... As far as I know fishing still works, you just need to watch Carefully- There is no splash or anything to say when you have a bite.
