The new launcher for minecraft does not work

Well i downloaded the new launcher for Minecraft 1.6.1 dragged it onto my desktop and clicked it twice hit run then nothing, nothing happened after that no one i know is having this issue. The part that I'm supposed to put my Minecraft username and password in does not pop up after i click the "Run"
