Can't "Pick Block" cauldrons with liquid or powdered snow inside

The bug

It isn't possible to middle click on cauldrons with water, lava or powdered snow inside. Pick-block does nothing, not even in creative mode or with NBT (Ctrl+pick block).

To reproduce

1. Place a cauldron
2. Fill it with water, lava or powdered snow
3. Press the pick block button (default Middle Click or Button 3)
   Notice how nothing happens
