When I create a new world, regardless of what settings it has, I spawn during night

I create a new world and spawn during night. I cannot set it back to day somehow and the night is endless. I tried setting daylight cycle on and then setting it day but that didn't work either. Please help. Also I know this is not a problem with my optifine because mobs are spawning which means that it is night.
