Feather falling not working while using carrot/fungus on stick

While riding a pig or a stider that has the feather falling effect the effect will stop working as soon as the player equips either a carrot on a stick riding the pig or a fungus on a stick riding the strider. When equiping the feather falling effect stops working and the mob and player falls to the ground with what seems to be normal falling speed.
