Cannot get 1.6 because the in-browser demo doesn't work

I don't know if this is because I don't have a proper paid-for account or if it's just a glitch in the website, or what, but I can't appear to get the horse update at all. I go to minecraft.net and click demo, and allow Java to run, but the screen just gets stuck on "Done Loading", without appearing to do anything as soon as Java has been allowed to run. I do have the new launcher already. Pretty sure it's not just my computer being odd too, because I tried it on my brother's PC and it did the exact same thing. Help is much appreciated!
