Crashing when I try to play (first time buying and trying to play)

I just purchased Minecraft, downloaded it and everytime I enter my info and select play in the launcher it says the game has crashed, and I get a crash report.

What I expected to happen was...:
The game to load and me be able to play.

What actually happened was...:
The game never starts, just crashes.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run the launcher
2. Enter my log in info,
3. select play
