Dirt blocks disappearing or changing location when area loaded

I have noticed that dirt blocks that I've placed seem to go missing or moved 1-2 blocks away from their original location when I return to an area. It's not all the time, but it's pretty frequent. It happens more often near nether portals. I have a dirt hut encasing one and left it as a test and the dirt blocks disappear or move pretty constantly.
