entities in a minecart not triggering trip wires

when an entity like a villager is traveling in a minecart and come in contact with the wire it is not triggering it this was tested on both a single player world and multiplier server from a Redstone contraption that was built in 1.15.2 that worked just fine with its tripwires. but now non of them work.
