Minecraft skin will only show as default skin

Whenever I upload a skin to minecraft.net in my profile, the skin says it has changed but when I log into Minecraft and play on my singleplayer world, the skin shows as the default skin. No matter how many times I change my skin, it always goes back to default in game.
