Magma Cube Sounds classified as Friendly Creatures

Was standing at a magma cube spawner, swinging away, when I realized that the sound of them jumping around was getting pretty annoying. Went to turn it down, when I realized that their sound only reduced when I reduced Friendly Creatures. Is it because they share the slime sound?
