Version minecraft windows 10

Hello, I have my minecraft java edition since June 16, 2015 and in that period the news came of having another minecraft only for windows 10 and it could cross-play, those with the minecraft java edition previously would have the right to get the minecraft for windows 10 if you had the operating system. I got my windows 10 recently and I would like to know if it is still valid as it would be very useful for me to cross-play with my xbox one friends.
