Villagers that became Zombie Villagers despawn when I can no longer see them

I converted a Villager to a Zombie Villager multiple times and when I went to get a golden apple from my chests and returned, they were despawned, and the Zombie (nametagged) that converted them would be invisible until I saved and quit to title and rejoined my survival world.
