Minecraft doesn't let me eat or mine

(this affects all versions i try to play Minecraft on, though i mostly play on 1.12.2 i tried other versions too and this still happens) I've had this problem from a few weeks now, where in Minecraft, if i try to eat something, it doesn't let me eat it, and if i mine something i have to mine it like 8 times before it drops. Can someone help with this?
