Villagers, cats(and more?) cannot jump over trapdoors and literally get trapped

This has been a thing for versions and versions now. I really wish they would fix it already.

Both villagers and cats are trapped once in trapdoors like this for some reason, I don't know why. They both don't just jump out. Other mobs possibly might get trapped too, but I'm not sure.
