Going through Nether/End Portal while eating food or item causes two food items to be consumed in total

Upon heading to the Nether in a new survival world, I noticed I had low hunger, and began eating some cooked beef. I had 18 steak, and decided to save time by eating during the portal animation. I seem to have timed it in a way that upon entering my portal, my hunger went up as usual, but I still had 18 steak. I had just finished eating it right when I popped into the loading screen for the Nether. I'm going to try to recreate it in another world to send some proof.

Side Note: Upon trying to recreate it, I found another bit to this, where you'll eat TWO of the food item, without having to queue it up. I'll add that in as well. I'm struggling to recreate the first mentioned bug, so I'll attach proof of the second.
