Stuck in minecart when run out of track

What I expected to happen is when you are in a minecart and hit a missing section of track, normally, hitting the cart with fist/sword destroys the cart or, right clicking outside of the cart with your fists allows you to exit.

What actually happens is you cannot get out of the cart by destroying it or right-clicking, with the exception of shooting it with a bow.

Steps to Reproduce:
1 Create length of track with one rail tile missing
2 Create 1 minecart, 1 coalcart
3 enter minecart, fire up coalcart
4 travel along rail until missing track piece - you should be stuck, unable to exit
