Right clicking doesn't work

Prior to the latest update, I was able to craft items without any problem. However, and I'm not sure how this happened, I am unable to use the right click function when crafting items now. I checked to see if it might have been a problem with my laptop or the mouse but when I used the "pick block" command it worked perfectly. Naturally, because I can't use the right click function to pick items to craft with, I can't craft most of the items I need while playing and am stuck playing Creative until I figure out how to fix this problem. I've never downloaded a mod or messed around with any code for Minecraft and I run the vanilla version.
