Endermen can place blocks on top of item frames on the floor

An enderman spawned into my map room an placed dirt blocks on some item frames. This destroyed the item frame and map. This happened three times and destroyed the item frame and map each time. I am unsure if this happens with item frames without maps placed on them, but I assume so.
