Sword in Creative mode Bug

So I was in Creative mode, flying around, and, as I was in hard difficulty, I pulled out a Diamond Sword so I could do damage to mobs and break blocks simultaneously. What I expected to happen was for the blocks to break when I hit them, but what actually happened was that the blocks just put out particles, as if I was trying to break bedrock in Survival. Btw, if this was put in on purpose, it's incredibly annoying. Just so you know.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create new world (any type).
2. Get any kind of sword (enchanted or not, as it works either way).
3. Try to break any block type.
