Cannot Open Doors, Access Furnaces, or Open Chests Without Using only Bare Hand

After playing a long time, or just whenever I first log in, whenever I try to open a door, open a chest, or open a furnace I am unable to until I switch to my empty hand, then the task is doable. I have to close and restart Minecraft for the issue to stop, but eventually it will occur again.
