Breaking a block beneath a dragon egg and immediately placing a torch does not give you the dragon egg

What I expected to happen was...:
What should have happened was that the egg should have fallen into the torch.

What actually happened was...:
The dragon egg would still float on the torch. This may have something to do with my fps.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Take a dragon egg
2. Place it on top of a random block.
3. While holding a torch left click and immediately after right click.

4. You will see how the egg floats and defies gravity.
