My End Portal to End City neglected to spawn.

I defeated the Ender Dragon for the first time ever, and my portal to End City neglected to spawn. After doing what research I could, I spawned the dragon again (...and again x12) and upon defeat it neglected to spawn. I jumped into creative and just flew to an End Island, but I don't like doing that. Thank you!
