Wolf attacks horse

My wolf ran towards, and growled at my horse. It looked like it was trying to attack the horse, but no damage or signs of damage were shown.

I think this is because I accidentally hit my horse, or because I was being attacked by a bunch of mobs on horseback and died, which somehow made my wolf think that i was killed by the horse.
