Game will crash upon tabbing back in to minecraft

I created and opened a new single-player world. I tabbed out of the game to look at discord. Upon tabbing back into minecraft, the game immediately crashed.

This happened three times in a row and my computer wasn't having any trouble so I don't think it is a problem with my computer.
