Newly created worlds have horrible block lag. Changing the video settings doesn't help and the problem is only consistent in NEWLY created worlds.

Only in new worlds, block lag is absolutely horrible. Frame rates are still upward of about 75 FPS. Switching video settings does not help and the problem does not occur in old worlds. It takes anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds for a block to actually break or to pick up drops.
