Changing block names with resource packs won't work...

In my resource pack, I try to change the lapis to Sapphire. This is because I don't like lapis all that much, but when I get on it's still called lapis...I went into the language file for english and changed the name of it the Sapphire and saved it (I'm using Notepad++ to edit the language file).
