Slime's audio is controlled by the Friendly Creatures bar in audio settings.

If you turn the Hostile Creatures audio off in Options... -> Music and Sounds -> Hostile Creatures, but keep Friendly Creatures audio on, slimes can still be heard. This means their audio is grouped under the wrong type.
