Substantial FPS Loss

I believe that due to the rendering changes implemented in snapshot 20w22a, my FPS has been decreased by 300-500. My GPU is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 980. CPU is an Intel i7-6700k. On 20w22a my FPS barley goes above 250, while on 20w21a and lower it can go to the 600-1000 range. Based on my testing there are no graphical errors, just the severe decrease in FPS.

Every variable in both snapshots are the same. Video settings and allocated ram were the same in both versions. I created each world on each version with the same seed and let the surrounding chunks load before taking the screenshots.9
