End Gateway Not Spawning

So I killed the Ender Dragon in one of my worlds. It turns out that the End Gateway did not spawn when I had defeated it. I tried leaving the End and coming back and it was not there. I turned it up to 32 chunks to see if i had missed it and I did not see it. I looked and couldn't find a report like this and I doubt that anyone else was as unfortunate as I.
