Not taking fall damage when you land on the corner of a block

What I expected to happen was...: 
To take fall damage as it was a pretty high fall.

What actually happened was...:
The fall damage sound was produced, but I took no damage.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get to a height that you'll take fall damage from 
2. Jump off said ledge.
3. Land on the corner of any block (I landed on stone).

When falling, it should also be known that you need to be falling towards the corner closest to you for this to work. If you just hit the farthest corner on a block you'll take damage as normal.
