Bows don't shoot further than one block

When firing a bow and arrow in any game mode or difficulty the bow will draw the arrow, pull back, shoot the arrow, but the arrow will ultimately lose momentum after about 1-2 blocks. The arrow will then land on the ground and stay visible until in naturally disappears.
