Piston Flying Machines Broken

I was trying to make a lava bridge builder with piston flying machines, but they don't work in the latest snapshot. I am using a design located on the Minecraft Wiki. When I activate them, they sometimes work, but never return properly. Old designs with redstone blocks don't work either. They just move back and forth.
