I cannot place two crops (potatoes, carrots, wheat) next two each other or they both disappear

After working on a garden in survival mode, I built a glass roof above it, giving crops more than enough space to grow, but now whenever I place two crops such as carrots, potatoes, or wheat, they both disappear or drop a seed, at first it was working just fine, but now this is happening. I have also surrounded every block I use to place seeds with water.
