Sleeping Dont work

ok so like I was playing on the snapshot and i like went to the nether a few times and my portal didnt link everytime i left the nether so i broke the portal and repeated it like 4 times but after it started getting dark and i took my bed out of my inventory and put it down so i left clicked and it just didnt work,so i tried to shoot my bow,it worked ,i tried to shoot my crossbow and it worked too, i opened a door and it did open so i sat and wondered what was wrong so i re-put my keybind and then it still didnt work so im not sure what to do please help
