Maps still displaying "stone" pattern

In the previous snapshot, a new map could be generated cleanly, but an updated map would generate a stone-and-red-colored pattern. In the current snapshot, when updating old maps, the pattern still appears. Also, the pattern appears in maps not previously generated.
