Picking up items doesn't show animation

The bug:

Usually when you walk near an item to pick it up, you see a little "animation" of the item going towards you. But currently in the new 1.16 snapshots, I noticed that picking up items just makes the item disappear instead of making it go towards you. I tried searching for this but it doesn't seem to appear. I'm sorry if this is a duplicate.

To reproduce:

1. Load a world in the current 1.16 snapshot update
2. Drop any item on the ground
3. Pick up the item and observe the animation (or lack thereof)
4. For comparison, load any older version of Minecraft (1.18-1.5) and do the same
