Redstone Update sequence favour positive directions (E & S) over Negative (N & W)

When a piston setup as shown in the video is powered and then unpowered, the piston picks up the block first if it is facing west or north (and is south or east of the block in question). The video explains all easier.

This was tried multiple times with multiple components powering the pistons, like repeaters, torches, comparators and just plain redstone dust lines.
