Striders Not Going in Lava (Walking Like Jesus)

When I get on strider on land in the nether, it doesn't go into the lava. It insteadwalks on top of it and I cannot make it go faster by right clicking. I have restarted the world by exiting and re-entering, but it hasn't fixed.
