New Custom Skin Turns to Steve or Alex when loading into game

So I recently decided to change my skin. I change it and head onto my server to see if I like it, instead of seeing my skin, I see a steve. When I change the model to slim, it's alex. I changed to one of my older skins in the launcher and it worked. So it only affects new skins, why?
