Resource Pack change crash

What I expected to happen was...:
The resource pack would change to one other than default

What actually happened was...:
Minecraft crashed

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have minecraft running with the text bug as mentioned in a previous report
2. switch to default (with text glitch)
3. try to switch back to custom texture pack
