something with the minecraft users

 So, I replaced my username with Minecraft.
Then, I went into a server with friends, and nothing was saved from my inventory!
And so it was on every server I logged into, and it was as if I had completely changed a user.
I have no idea why this happened. Can anyone help?

(The username I'm talking about is my same username, I just replaced a name)
