The recipe book doesn't detect items held in the offhand

The Bug:

The recipe book doesn't detect items held in the offhand.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Obtain a stack of oak planks and switch into survival mode.
2. Hold the oak planks in your offhand, open your inventory, and then open the recipe book.
3. Locate the crafting recipe for sticks and attempt to use the recipe book to craft some of them.
4. Take note as to whether or not the recipe book detects items held in the offhand.

Observed Behavior:

The recipe book doesn't detect items held in the offhand.

Expected Behavior:

The recipe book would detect items held in the offhand.
