Stuck in a mining fatigue

I was mining up to the surface when the elder guardian hit me with the mining fatigue, now I am in a endless loop of mining fatigue and don't know any way to get out of it. I can't mine up nor down so I'm just stuck there waiting to get hit again (I'm in hardcore btw so I can't just kill myself).

any advice?
