No ancient debris

When I went mining for Ancient debris, I found none after 40 mins of mining. So I decided to go on a duplicate of the world, and run a command which excavated everything near me, but after 5 minutes, I still found no ancient debris! Is this a bug on my world, or just a thing you removed?
