It is possible to destroy netherite items with lava by making a lodestone, then tossing that in the lava, or by tossing a shulker box containing netherite into the lava

Normally you aren’t able to destroy netherite when thrown into lava, however this mechanic can be bypassed by putting netherite into a container (then throwing the container into lava) or using netherite to craft something else other than netherite tools, such as lodestones or possibly more items in future snapshots.

To Reproduce:
1. Throw a netherite ingot into the lava
2. The netherite ingot isn’t destroyed
3. Put the netherite ingot into a shulker box (or summon in other containers with an NBT)
4. All of the contents of the container is destroyed by lava, including netherite, when thrown into it
5. Use another netherite ingot to craft a lodestone and throw the lodestone into lava
6. The netherite ingot used to craft the lodestone is also destroyed alongside it
