Can't Rename an Item with an Anvil

I know that this bug has previously been reported and has since been marked as resolved, but since then I have been experiencing issues with renaming items in the 20w10a snapshot. I'm trying to rename a book and quill (while still allowing it to be edited later), but when I place it in the anvil, no matter how many times I click or try to type, I can do nothing to edit the text.
