Spider can hit up through blocks

I was testing out a cave spider grinder, and I somehow can be hit by the spiders up through the block I'm standing on. Unfortunately, i do not have recording software so i can't attach a clip, however Idk why Mojang would make this happen on purpose so its prob a bug
